We celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25. The story of the birth of Christ is found in the New Testament, Matthew: 1:19-25. He is given the name Immanuel – which means God with us! Jesus was born, raised by earthly parents, grew up, and saved us from our sins. God used the love and compassion of a young woman, Mary, and the love and security of Joseph, a righteous man, to provide the care Jesus needed during his tender years. Jesus knew his role on earth was to share the love of his Father through tangible means to save people from their sins. Believing what we see is easy for most of us while believing unseen is much more difficult. Jesus is no longer with us in earthly form, but he sent us the Holy Spirit to be with us, to live in us, and to breathe in his peace every day.
If you are feeling down this Christmas, take time to breathe and focus on the one who loves us more than we can imagine. Forget about your past! We all have things we have done or experienced that try to keep us from feeling whole by making us feel unworthy. You are worthy of God’s love and can receive it and feel his loving arms wrapped around you. During this season of giving, sharing, loving, and healing, focus on what you can do each day that shares the love of Christ with others.
Merry Christmas to all!
